Laura Aris |Ultima Vez vocabulary Workshop: Space, Conflict and Catastrophic Imagination
This workshop encourages the participants to get closer to the work of Ultima Vez thanks to Laura Aris, dancer, performer and choreographer of more than ten years of work with the famous Belgian company. The course is reserved for professional dancers and advanced students.

This workshop encourages the participants to get closer to the work of Ultima Vez thanks to Laura Aris, dancer, performer and choreographer of more than ten years of work with the famous Belgian company. Through the exploration of the vocabulary of Wim Vandekeybus and of some of the themes that distinguish his creations, the workshop will make people submerge in the work of Ultima Vez.
Risk, instinct, speed, animality are what characterizes the artistic production of the choreographer: in this workshop Laura Aris will deal with these bases, sharing with the participants her experience with the company. Work will concentrate on elements from different performances, thus offering an overview of the variety of the vocabulary of the great choreographer. The focus will be on the mechanisms that allow us to reach full potential physically, to understand our limits and to learn how to protect our own body, letting go of what is not necessary and giving significance to the movement.
“I use dance as a Tool and not as Goal, and though it is not my intention, dance shapes my spirituality. I like to create theatrical discourses that are sustained by movement – constantly seeking generators of physicality and then setting necessary filters that maximise the content of my proposals. In dance, I find an ephemeral logic that reveals particles of truth. Sometimes, the particles disappear at the end of the performative act, but sometimes, they endure.
