Prior to the German Premiere of BEAST WITHOUT BEAUTY at TRAUMA BAR UND KINO a limited number of guests will be given the rare opportunity to dive into the manifestation of Carlo Massari’s choreographies and to partake in the exploration of C&C company’s poetics in physical theatre.

»BE YOUR BEAST researches the uniqueness and originality of each of the participants, aiming to alternate from the conventional way of approaching movement. The workshop seeks to question the body’s possibilities and limits, while challenging its natural shape. The main attention will be given to the stage presence, the relation between body and space, the use of the voice on stage (in all its hues), the dealings between two or more bodies, action-reaction exercises and more.«
The workshop takes place in our inclusive space and is open to movers of any background, experience level and age.

CARLO MASSARI
Carlo Massari is an Italian choreographer and performer. He started his career at a young age in the company O.T.E. and performed with several companies through Europe, notably at Compagnia Teatro dell’Argine, Biennale di Venezia, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Compagnia della Rancia, Compagnia Abbondanza/Bertoni, Balletto Civile and PetriDish. Back in 2011, he started his own company C&C with the artist Chiara Taviani. The company shows from the very beginning a strong identity, mixing the languages of dance and physical theater with other artistic codes. In their work, they focus on contemporary subjects with the aim to inspire, confront and move audience. From 2011 to 2016, C&C has created several works: Corpo & Cultura, 012, Maria Addolorata, Tristissimo, Peurbleu, Don’t be afraid, Beast without Beauty, A peso morto, Horror Vacui, Les Miserables. From 2017, the direction of C&C Company is assigned to Carlo Massari. As choreographer, he is often invited to cooperate with other groups, such as Agora Coaching Project (IT), Dukto (ES), La Verdi (IT), KDC (PL), Compagnia Ortika (IT).
Throughout all this, Carlo Massari has received several prestigious awards for best choreography that includes, among others: Hiver Oclytes/Les Hivernales (FR), Hannover International Choreographers Competition (DE), Zawirowania Competition (PL), Konzert Theater Berne (CH), Machol Shalem International Choreographic Competition (IL), ActFestival (ES), Premio Roma Danza (IT).
